EMAI through LearnÉng – one of its branches for community services, provides Spoken English courses to students of Government and Corporation schools (especially at elementary and primary schools) at free of cost. The proposed idea is aimed to be conducted across the state and in Chennai to begin with.

Pilot Batch @ Pennalur, Chennai. 

 

EMAI’s volunteers identified a school in Pennalur village to equip the school children (between Grade 5 and 6) with adequate language proficiency.  The 20-day program was initiated with the approval of the Head Mistress of the school.
EMAI’s LearnÉng program involves group activities and lectures on frequently used chunks for everyday English. The program was successfully handled by Ms Lokapriya, a Lead Volunteer of EMAI. The students were given fountain pens at the completion of the training program in order to help them understand hazards of plastic wastes accumulated through ‘use and throw’ pens.
